According to every expert I’ve ever heard of, you should eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water, eat less fat, and focus on a more balanced meal plan. And while we’ve heard of the fad diets that allow you to eat “whatever you want” without gaining weight. But usually, those focus on restrictions that you don’t necessarily think of such as the low carb diet. Every meat lover thought great, I can eat all the meat I want. But when you realize that you can’t eat pizza, pasta, and other foods that have meat (spaghetti and meatballs), but are also based on carbs, it’s not nearly as appealing.
But Oprah’s meal plan is based on surprisingly simple concepts that we all know. It’s just some of us don’t always follow it. Obviously, Oprah’s been one of the biggest faces of weight loss of this century. We’ve laughed, celebrated, cried, and gorged with her as we go. But the bottom line is that it’s easy to remember.
1. Low fat
There are some low carb diets that advocate more fat. But even low carb diets are also going low fat these days. Too much fat can be bad for your weight and your heart at the same time, and it can make your battle against obesity that much harder. If you use the right low fat diet that still has some good fatty acids, you can improve your health and lose weight at the same time.
2. No Alcohol
Some choose to drink in moderation. But alcohol has a high content of excess calories, and it can actually add up to one big beer belly. Unfortunately, this can cause other health problems as well, and if possible, many believe that you should avoid alcohol, especially high calorie mixed drinks. If anything, drink 1 glass of wine per day.
3. Drink more water
Drinking more water helps you to stay hydrated, and it keeps you more full, helping you to eat less. But it also helps you to fulfill every basic function of the body. Replacing soda with water automatically cuts calories, and you might be surprised by the effects of water and water alone.
Of course, there is more to a healthy diet than this. There are many other things that Oprah does to lose weight. But these are the 3 basics that can get you started on the right track.
